The
Palos Verdes Street Fair is happening on the weekend from Saturday, June 11 through Sunday the next day. It's on Silver Spur and Indian Peak Road, between Crenshaw and Hawthorne Blvd., in the heart of Palos Verdes. This street fair attracted me because they have a dog show and contest until noon, but B had to work today, so we did not get there until about 1. There are ferris wheels and all kinds of arcade games and rides, petting zoos, pony rides, dog show and dog adoption centers. There are two food courts, and live bands. The main food court had a bratwurst/polish sausage stand that we ended up splitting a polish for $9. It was great. I wish I did not get the sweet potato fries from some Hawaiian truck by the smaller food court, because it was not good at all. We also shared a shave ice and made off with all you can dispense syrup. We got Tico a $5 donkey toy that has the same coloring as he does; and he's not very happy that we tied the donkey under his back for minute.

There were a ton of vendors selling clothing, knick-knacks, talented artists, Hawaiian stuff, beach stuff, household stuff, resort and timeshare people, hospital people, tons of dog-related vendors as well such as the pet adoption place, pet hospital, pet bed vendors, pet toys, pet foods, Centinela Pet Supplies were there, some people wanted to talk to us about backplash tiles for our kitchen, some environmentally-friendly paints for the house, garage shelves, etc.
D and her husband Mike picked us up at 9:30 to go out dancing at the Mayan, which is this old theatre in downtown LA. It is just what we needed; a multi-level dance club which played salsa on the main floor, hip-house underneath, and house on the third floor. The top, or balcony area of the old theater offered a great vantage view of the stage. The salsa dancers are talented, and it will take B and I years to get into anything close to what they did on the dance floor. They made for a very entertaining way to wind down after hours of dancing on hip-hop downstairs. Live salsa bands are amazing. I love this place. For $12 before 10:30, it's our type of club. It cost $20 afterwards, and that's when the major crowds come in. The parking around the area is $10, we found one next door for $12. B and I would definitely want to try to learn to dance salsa one of these days.
We live very busy lives, B and I. And it's funny to think that when we got Tico, my main concern is keeping up with his overactive energy. So we tend to find ways to keep him entertained. We definitely would love for him to be able to roam around in the backyard without worrying about the neighbors, the noise, him getting out, etc. So our main house project right now is building up a better fence around the house.
"Living La Vida Loca" is a song by Ricky Martin. I was peer-pressured into going to his concert a decade or so ago with my friends Kathy and Lynn, who became two of my bridesmaids. I used to love his old group Menudo, especially Robby Rosa. Those were fun, crazy times.
